They need to split the class up between brownies and Juniors. 5th graders found it boring, especially since they had to wait a lot for the brownies to understand what to do.

Thanks for your feedback. We split most of our workshops by troop level, but have several multi-level troops participate in our workshops. We have many requests for mixed-level badge workshops, so we try to be as accommodating as possible. We also try to differentiate the lesson by showing the kids how to customize the programs if they have had coding experience already, while we work at catching up some of the participants that are a bit slower or less familiar with typing in code. Sorry your Girl Scout thought it was boring. Thanks for trying us out though.

Payton found it very difficult as a 4th grader. She tried to ask for help but didn't get enough. There was no adult available at the time here at home to assist. I definitely would not try this with a Brownie.

So sorry to hear your Girl Scout had a hard time with the coding class. It is a challenge for us to help with some problems if we are not in person. Some girls are more familiar with typing on computers/devices than others, so some have challenges finding the right buttons on the keyboard, or are slower to type than others. We show them how to share their code with us so we can help them find and fix their errors, and copy the code in the chat so they can copy it line by line if that helps them. We try to get to every single participant that is having an issue to make sure their code is working, and always stay online after the workshop if someone's code is still not working to work one-on-one with them if necessary. Unfortunately, we only know if someone is having an issue if they tell us because we cannot tell through a video feed. I am sorry someone was not there to help her and that she did not get enough help from us. Thanks for trying us out though.

Hi Deborah, Thanks for your message. It depends on which program you are inquiring about. Our Young Explorers classes (3-5 year olds) require parent participation during class. Parents sometimes stay for the first week of homeschool classes, and during Girl Scout workshops as well. Parents do not stay for after-school programs, Parents' Night Out or our camps. Hopefully, I covered the program you are interested in. If not, please let me know so I can clarify. Thanks for your interest, Tonya -
