Join us for CubaCaribe’s Moving Juntos workshop series - an unforgettable journey of Afro-Cuban Dance, Music and History!

CubaCaribe is pleased to offer a fantastic opportunity for you learn about Afro-Cuban Orishas (deities) in depth - their unique stories, their dance movements, and their music - all in one space! 

Jose Barroso and Michael Spiro, two of the Bay Area’s most celebrated master artists, will co-teach each two-hour class. In the course of the workshop, you will explore six key Orishas: Eleggua, Yemaya, Ochosi, Oshun, Oggun, and Obatala. 

Whether you are new to Afro-Cuban culture, or have already have experience, Moving Juntos will offer you a way to find joy and make connections in these cultural traditions!

The class itself was great. The problem I noticed though is that this class should have had much greater attendance, it being a free class due to CubaCaribe having a grant. Perhaps that's due to poor advertising/marketing on the part of CC or SADC (don't know)? But yeah - this class should have had 30 people in it. The space is on the smaller side, yes, but attendance was lacking, with barely 10 people there.

*If you guys decide to do this again, you really ought to ensure the word gets out. I saw no mention of this on any social media platform or anywhere else online except for Ramon's/CC's website. But yes, it was a great class.
