Developed by MIT, Scratch coding for kids is a great way to introduce kids to computer programming. However, not all ways of learning Scratch are created equal. In fact, it is far from that. Learning coding is much more about developing computational thinking, creativity, and critical thinking than writing a couple of programs.

In this free Scratch class, learn the basics of how to use Scratch interface live online with an awesome teacher. Enjoy programs created by other students, and work together to build a fun game of your own (for many this is the very first program they have ever built).

Hi, I'm a bit frustrated. I just signed up for my son for Free lesson from activityhero, then I received a message to ask me to complete one more step at Create & Learn website to see if the time slot is still available. I went on the site and the time slot is full, so I choose another date, then it ask again if I want to sign up another free class and same class. So, did I completed registration OR NOT? Do I have it on Friday as my first request at 4-5pm or do I need to choose another day? I also like to know if I have to pre download Scratch app to my laptop before the class. Please advise. Hello, Sorry for the back and forth. It is difficult to keep Activity Hero and our system completely in sync, hence the discrepancy. During this time of the year, classes fill out very fast which makes it more challenging to keep things in sync. Please sign up for another class. If it is full again on our site, you can email amys@createandlearn.us. We will be happy to add you manually. You do not need to install Scratch on your computer. If you prefer, you can sign up for an account at scratch.mit.edu ahead of time. But it is options for the first class. Please feel free to email us for questions. And sorry for the delay in response. My son is in 2nd grade and his school does not end until 12:30 from Monday to Friday except Wednesday. And I think most 2nd grades do. Then, do you want my son to ditch class to take your course? Please, be realistic. (Free! Scratch Coding Intro Class) -

Hello! Our Scratch intro classes actually only meet one time, so we have a lot of different time and day options! Since your son doesn't end school until 12:30, and if he would like to take our free Scratch intro class, you are welcome to sign him up for a time slot that meets after his class ends or on a day when he doesn't have school so that he doesn't have to miss any of his regular school to try out our class! We have a class on Friday, September 18 at 2:30 pm PDT and a class on Saturday, September 19 at either 10:30 am PDT or 2:30 pm PDT, which might work better! -
