DRAWING & ILLUSTRATION - Love to draw, doodle or create your own characters? CSMA provides children and teens with engaging ways to build foundational skills in drawing and illustration! Students of all experience levels are welcome. Through project-based learning, inquiry and exploration, children and teens will progressively master new techniques using a variety of materials.

  • DRAWING & PAINTING - Ages 8-11 - Develop foundational art skills in this class! Capture your ideas and improve your renderings through guided exercises and creative exploration. Learn concepts like perspective and contour drawing, then experiment with different paint media to bring your ideas to life.

  • PORTRAIT DRAWING & PAINTING - Ages 10-14 - Learn the fundamentals of portraiture in this class. Explore the concepts used in dynamic gesture sketches and capture movement through both quick sketches and long pose drawings, working from reference images and clothed models. Experiment with a variety of media including charcoal, graphite pencils and ink, then move on to paint media. An excellent class for artists with some previous drawing experience to develop their skills and techniques.

  • CARTOONS & GRAPHIC NOVELS - AGES 8-11 - Explore comic-making and design your very own stylized characters in this class! Discover how professionals create stories and design the characters they feature. Learn fundamental drawing techniques and experiment with mixed media to create a world that's all your own.

  • DESIGN DRAWING - AGES 10-14 - Learn perspective drawing in this fun design class! Use watercolors, charcoal, colored pencils, and more to create accurate drawings with multiple point perspective through vanishing points and converging lines. Focus in on architectural designs through discussions and rendering exercises.

My 10-year old son attended the Digital Art Camp. He learned Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. I liked how this camp showed kids how to use industry-standard software, and they were able to learn a lot. My son now has a copy of these programs at home and he's exercising his creativity on the computer.
