CERAMICS: Want to learn to create with clay? CSMA provides a variety of opportunities for children and teens to learn ceramics! In CSMA’s Ceramics classes for ages 8-14 students learn a progression of techniques, from pinching and joining to slab rolling, beginning with basic skills.  

  • CERAMICS – AGES 8-12-Have fun sculpting as you learn the fundamentals of ceramics. Manipulate clay through hand-building and assorted tools, embellish your creations with patterns and textures, then glaze them with fantastic colors. Create unique pieces fired in CSMA's own kilns!
  • CERAMICS – AGES 10-14 -Create a collection of functional and decorative kiln clay pieces in this fun class! Learn to hand-build one-of-a-kind creations, then move to the wheel to throw your own vessels. Bring your artwork to life with colorful glazes through dipping, painting and pouring.
  • MINI-SESSION CERAMICS - Have fun sculpting as you learn the fundamentals of ceramics. Manipulate clay through hand-building and assorted tools, embellish your creations with patterns and textures, then glaze them with fantastic colors. Create unique pieces fired in CSMA's own kilns.
  • Ceramics Studio for Teens – Ages 14-18 Explore ceramic art and pottery in this studio class for teens! Learn how to make functional and decorative objects out of kiln fired clay. Use traditional hand-building techniques such as coil and slab, then move to the wheel to learn centering, pulling, and shaping.

MIXED MEDIA:

 Sometimes you can’t choose just one type of media! CSMA’s mixed media classes allow students to explore a range of 2D and 3D media including drawing, painting, clay, and sculpture.

  • DRAW, PAINT, SCULPT – AGES 5-7- Be inspired by famous artists, seasons, animals, and your favorite stories as you create both 2D and 3D art. Experiment with a variety of media, including pencils, clay, pastels, paints, and more. New projects every semester mean you never take the same class twice.
  • DRAW, PAINT, SCULPT – AGES 8-11 - Learn about inspiring artists, cultures, and stories while developing your skills with creative and challenging 2D and 3D projects. Use a range of materials like watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and clay to make unique artworks and discover your new favorite media.
  • BUILD, INVENT, DESIGN - Be inspired by famous architects, artists, and designers in this class! Develop artistic skills with inventive 2D and 3D art projects. Build structures, design balancing toys, explore light and shadow with fantastic figures, and create pop-up storybooks.

  • MINI SESSION - POP UP BOOK MAKING - Ready to make your stories jump off the page? This 4-week mini-session will guide you through the exciting process of designing and building your very own pop-up book. Learn basic paper engineering mechanics and develop a captivating story you can bring to life in 3D.

My 10-year old son attended the Digital Art Camp. He learned Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. I liked how this camp showed kids how to use industry-standard software, and they were able to learn a lot. My son now has a copy of these programs at home and he's exercising his creativity on the computer.

Fabulous place. This is a wonderful way to spend one or two weeks.
