Hi! Downloading Unity prior to the start of camp will be the best option (instructions sent to you from reading@thecodewiz.com)- but if you not have it ready the coach will help you at the start of class. The download can be very long, which is why we encourage you to at least start it at home if possible! -

This class is appropriate for both beginner and advanced students! It is a collaborative curriculum, so more advanced students will be able to act as leaders in the group and work on more independent projects within Minecraft and will get to more advanced economic concepts in their world, while beginner students will focus more on how to play the game and on learning to build while they work on their group town! Yes! This class teaches students to make their own apps using drag & drop coding, so there is no prior coding experience necessary. -

Code Wiz Reading is proud to be one of the Best of 2021 Winners! While this competition was not tied to a particular one of our programs/classes, all our game design classes are certainly a fan favorite from what we have heard from our families :) -

Unfortunately, all students must have a PC/Mac in order to do the Roblox Coding class. In order to make their own games and code in Roblox, students must download Roblox Studio, which can only be done on a PC/Mac computer. -

For Summer all of our camps are conducted during the following 2-hour blocks: 10am-12pm EST 1pm-3pm EST 4pm-6pm EST *All camps run Monday-Friday Weekly classes continue to run during the 1 hour blocks in the afternoons. -

Our classes are all run on a secure, private Minecraft server, which uses the Java edition of Minecraft. In order to participate on our server the students must also have this version! -

Absolutley! A strong background in Python will just mean that she will be able to get into more advanced coding concepts in this class, and since Minecraft Mods can also be made in Java, this class is also a great jumping off point for students who are interested in learning Java as well! -

All students continue learning where they left off before! Our program focuses on project-based learning, which means they will continue to move forward with their work as they take more classes. -

The only thing required for the Python Coding camp is a computer with Zoom installed! All the curriculum for this class is web-based, so there is nothing to download and it will work on a Chromebook. -

All our Minecraft classes require a Minecraft Java Edition to be downloaded PC/Mac. However, there is no need to purchase anything as we are happy to lend you one of our accounts in class! The reason for this is that the tablet version of Minecraft is different and not compatible with our Java Edition server. Upon registration, you will receive instructions on how to download Minecraft Java Edition. -

Absolutely! During every student's first class, our coaches work to evaluate their level and assign them to an appropriate project. If a certain group is not the right fit/level for you, we will move you to a more appropriate group, whether that means one that is working on more or less advanced concepts depending on your needs! -

All our Summer Camp Sessions are available for the 1 PM PST time slot! We are also offering this class as a March and April Break Camp which runs at 9am and 12pm PST slots. -

The Sunday Roblox Camp is 2 hours long (1pm-3pm EST), but if you would like a one hour option our weekly Roblox class also has a Sunday 2pm-3pm session! -

We'd be happy to make sure all three students are in a group together! Send us an email (reading@thecodewiz.com) with the days/times you are interested in, and we will be able to confirm for you that all three kids can stay together. -

Yes! All our classes require a laptop to participate. -

For this class, you must download Roblox Visual Studio onto a PC/Mac in order to participate and code in Roblox. We provide download instructions as well as support if you need help with the process. -

Yes! All our Minecraft classes use the Java edition. If you do not have your own account, we would be happy to lend you one. -

Our classes and camps have a 4:1 Student to Coach Ratio -

Yes, our Minecraft classes will teach the students how to play in and navigate the Minecraft world. However, we use Minecraft Java Edition, so before the class, you would need to download this on a Mac/PC (no need to purchase anything, we can lend you an account since the Nintendo account will not work). -

Our weekly classes have a 4:1 Coach to student ratio (this can vary slightly, but we tend to air on the side of smaller classes for more personalized instruction). For Minecraft special events, we allow slightly bigger class sizes so that the kids can work together to build an exciting world even in the short span of the camp! -

Yes, all our Minecraft classes require Minecraft Java Edition to be downloaded on a PC/Mac. This is because our server is set up with Java Edition, which is different than the version of Minecraft that is used on iPads. *You do not need to purchase anything, we have accounts students can use* -

All our Minecraft classes require a PC/Mac, but students are welcome to join the session anytime! Our coaches will make sure that they are working on projects appropriate to their level. If you do not have a Minecraft account that is compatible with a computer, we are able to provide accounts for students. -

All of our Minecraft classes require Minecraft Java Edition to be downloaded on a Mac/PC, however, you do not need to purchase anything as we have accounts available for students to use! -

The students are able to join at any point during the session since our classes are all based on individualized, project-based learning. On each student's first day of class, the coach will evaluate their level and will make a recommendation if they feel they need to move to a more/less advanced group. Please call us at (781-205-9865) if you would like us to discuss which group would be the best fit for her, as will be able to make the best recommendation based on who is already in those classes! -

The same class will continue next month, so if she wants to continue to work on her game she would be able to pick up right where she left off. It can take varying amounts of time to build a game depending on whether she has any experience and how complicated of a game she decided to pursue! -

You will need either a Mac/PC for all Roblox classes. Unfortunately, tablets and Chromebooks do not support Roblox Studio which must be downloaded for this class. -

For Unity classes, students need a Mac/PC - a tablet or Chomebook will not suffice. -

We do not record lessons or use them as any sort of promotional material. If there was ever a situation where anything needed to be recorded we would ask for parent and child consent in advance before proceeding, but this would be a very rare circumstance. -

For this camp, you will need the Java edition of Minecraft to be compatible with your computer. -

We do require the Minecraft Java version for this camp. We definitely want it to be preloaded before the Camp but we do also help the students download the Minecraft Java version on the first day of camp. -

For this class, the student does not need any prior experience to join the class. Our coaches will tailor the class to the student so they learn everything from the beginning. Hope this helps! -

Hi Sajitha, This course is customized to the level of the students, so for students who have previous experience in Scratch we begin with more difficult concepts (they will not be repeating topics that they are already covered in another class). It is always recommended that you include a note about the student's previous experience when you register so that we can make sure that we start them off at the appropriate level! -

For our Minecraft camps, we do require a Mac/PC because the specific edition we use can only run on Mac/PC. We do offer many classes that do not require a Mac/PC if you are interested! -

For Roblox, she will need a MAC/PC unfortunately in order to participate. There is nothing we can do to go around this as Roblox only can function on a PC or Mac. We do offer many classes that do not require a Mac/Pc if you are interested! -
