Iâm so grateful for the EDMO program. My daughter has also loved science and math, but now she knows that her favorite âtypeâ of science and math is actually engineering! My daughter learned quite a bit and she really enjoyed her time here.

They put my son into the wrong class on first day even though he said something they didnât take action.

It was ok. Unfortunately, one of the days we got to the camp and it got canceled because of some pipe break problem. We were informed that we would receive a refund. We havenât received any refund or communication concerning that day. Also, it was so last minute that we couldnât even figure out any new camp or babysitter for our kids :(

We were made aware that we could not hold camp in a safe and sanitary way that morning and sent email communication immediately. We understand that an unexpected and last minute situation like this presents challenges for both EDMO and families which is why we offered to credit you back for this missed day. We had 2 kid in this class (different age groups). It's nice they tailored the material to the different ages. Kids had a lot of fun. Glad they were eating outside. Just watch out for signage - they were sharing Franklin Elementary with a couple of other camps, so make sure you'er in the right drop off/pick up line.

Camp EDMO is enjoyable and safe for smaller kids who need supervision all day while their parents work. Their Leader In Training program for teenagers is a great option for parents who want their grade 9-12 kids to use their time well during the summer. My daughter enjoyed helping the smaller children as an LIT at Camp EDMO and itâs good experience that may help her get a paid job when sheâs older.

My daughter loves EDMO. She had fun solving the clues and puzzles this week. I highly recommend EDMO camps. My daughter has learned a lot about science in just a couple of weeks as well as how to help others out, celebrate kindness and work with others.

My son liked the camp a lot for the first few days, but was disappointed that Friday wasn't a Roblox Day at all. They put the kids in front of a movie and didn't code or learn anything and he commented on it feeling disappointed. Not a great way to send his excitement the first few days. I could have put him in front of the TV to watch a movie for free so don't expect to pay for that.

Outside of STEAM-focused enrichment time, campers enjoy team time, games, rallies, SEL activities and more throughout the day at camp. We trust our staff to communicate and inquire with campers to see how they would like to spend any free time they have. We are using this feedback as an opportunity to explore additional options to extend enrichment time if a group finishes early.
My daughter said she had a great time at camp, making new friends, something that is an important life skill. As a parent hoping that she would also have some educational opportunities with camp, she couldn't tell me anything she learned as she does when she comes home from school. She said since her group size was small, she finished almost everything on Wednesday, had a LOT of free time on Thursday, and watched movies all day on Friday. That was pretty disappointing to hear, whether it was 100% true or not.

Good camp, my 8yr old liked the topics each day (esp the plastic bottle model of the lungs & DNA double helix made out of red vines and gummy bears). However, not sure this is a biochem class really as they didn't do any chemistry experiments.

It sounds like she was registered for camp the day prior and didn't show up on our roster so there was a miscommunication at drop-off about which theme she was in. We would love to prorate you for the first day of camp and provide a credit back to you in EDMO credits. Your provider credits will be issued to your Activity Hero account. Your credits can be used for our in-person camps, online camps, and tutoring/coaching sessions. Credits do not expire and can be transferred to friends or families. Although, the two can and do intermingle. ï»żDuring the week of camp, ï»żthere were several experiments where kiddos learned the chemical and digestion process that happens in the body. One of those experiments was a calorimetry experiment which is a chemistry-based experiment to learn how food burns in our body (a chemical process) to release energy and fuel our bodies. In addition, there was an entire lesson on DNA and how it pairs, and how to extract it from a strawberry (a chemical process). Kiddos also explored food digestion which taught the chemical breakdown of food as it goes through the digestion process.

Communication between parents and staff is delayed and insufficient. I submitted an inquiry and received a response later than expected that was not correct. My issue was still never addressed. Also disappointed that my daughter was told she would get a shirt but never received one.

Day 1, all children had to say their pronouns. The oldest is 13. Most don't care, and shouldn't! Just call them by their names...simple. they have 1.5 hours of doing nothing (lunch) during a 6-hour day and are standing outside for 15 minutes before parents are supposed to be there. So far, not that impressed.

We want all of our kiddos to feel safe, comfortable and celebrated for their genuine authentic selves. Using correct pronouns helps create that experience for all ages. Kiddos are given the opportunity to include their pronouns when they introduce themselves to their peers. Sharing pronouns is not mandatory. If a kiddo wishes not to share their pronouns, that is absolutely respected and welcomed.
Lunch at each camp is scheduled for 30 minutes. Before lunch at this camp, kids have SEL / Team Time and after lunch they have Social Time. This social time allows campers to take a break from learning, build friendships and play games on their own. It also provides the opportunity for them to manage their own time and decide how theyâd like to spend the 30 minutes. If someone is feeling over-stimulated or needs a little more personal / quiet time, this is time that they can use to recharge and regroup. Or they can play with their friends and build life-long friendships! Altogether, this timing equates to an hour and half, or 30 minutes for each activity.
We schedule 30 minutes for pick-up time at each camp. During this pick-up window, campers are brought to a safe shaded area outside where instructors are playing music and fun games that allow for an easy transition upon their caregivers arrival.

My kids have enjoyed edmo. This is their 2nd year attending summer camp. Ms Ruby is an awesome counselor. She is patient and kind.

Be careful. EDMOs cancelation policy is quite unsatisfactory. If your plans change, even weeks in advance, you will be issued an EDMO credit only, no refunds, not even partial refunds. And on top of that they charge a flat cancelation fee as well. I can see having a credit-only policy on top of a flat cancelation fee in the case that one withdraws last minute, but weeks in advance is not reasonable.

This camp was a terrible experience for my son, and for me as his parent. Digital Animation in the name of the camp is a marketing ruse. There was very little digital anything about this camp. It was mostly a regular summer camp with lots of inflexible rules. The head teacher was transactional and cold. She spoke of my son poorly from the beginning and treated him like a pariah.
My son is 6 years old and is gifted, but he sometimes struggles with strong emotions and behavioral control. He was kicked out of EDMO at 6:45 am on his last day of camp (a work day for me). I simply got a call saying he can't come in. This was followed by a long email telling me how terrible my son had been from the start and how heroic everyone was for tolerating him. The head teacher even apologized for not kicking him out sooner. Reading this heartless email about a struggling 6-year old broke my heart. My son was really affected by this too.
The teachers in this camp are unkind. Even if you don't have a neurodivergent kid like I do, I would strongly suggest to stay clear.

We have reached out to this family and have addressed their concerns directly. We take all feedback regarding the emotional wellbeing of our campers very seriously. We understand that summer camp can be a scary and difficult experience for kids, as they navigate new environments, new people, schedules and rules to ensure their safety. Our staff does everything in their power to ensure each camper feels safe, including, in this case, assigning a staff member to the camper throughout the week to console them and guide them in any way that is needed. We do acknowledge that our camp is not designed or advertised to have a 1:1 camper to camp counselor ratio and when a camper is in need of 1:1 care it may be an indicator that the camper requires care above and beyond what we are able to provide. When something like this arises, we do our best to communicate with the camperâs caregiver so that they can make an informed decision about their kiddo and determine how to proceed moving forward. The specific information regarding the review above is personal and we want to maintain the privacy of this reviewer. We are using this review to evaluate the holes in the reporting process and the communication breakdown that seems to have taken place between our staff and the caregiver. It is our mission to ensure that all campers experience the fun and magic that is Camp EDMO, and hope to see this kiddo at camp next summer!
My 4.5 year old son thoroughly enjoyed this camp. He cherish his time and made a couple good friends. As a parent, I would have appreciated if pick up and drop off part was more streamlined, wait times on those steps were 15min on most days.

It was disappointing that the campers spent so little time on Minecraft coding and lot of unstructured time outside (90 mins blocks of time for snack and outside play). Given the theme and topic this is not what we expected or what would be most enjoyable for our camper.
Surprisingly both kids did not like this camp at all. They have both been to a variety of Napa summer camps since they were young and they have never both adamantly agreed that a camp was "bad". I unfortunately did not have them attend the final day on Friday and they had to come to work with my husband and I instead because they both did NOT want to return.

I enrolled my kid in a camp on May 23rd that had a starting date on June 20th. A week later our schedule changed and had to cancel the camp. They have a policy that if you don't cancel before May 1st you are not eligible for a refund. How can I cancel the camp on May 1st when I enrolled my kid on May 23rd? It is impossible . This is stealing . I know your policy is everywhere. I will definitely be reaching out to the attorney general's office and the Better Business Bureau and Concordia to denounce these abusive practices by EDMO.

We completely understand shifting schedules during summer and work to be as flexible as possible when it comes to canceling or rescheduling camp. Our refund / cancellation policy is listed as you checkout and finalize registration for each camp, and it is also outlined in our FAQs page. As you may have read, enrollment for summer camp begins in January and we provide full refunds, if needed, until May 1st which is one month prior to the start of Summer programming. My 6-year old son really enjoyed this 4-day Minecraft class. The instructor was very fun, engaging, and responsive. She also made sure that everyone was kind and respectful to each other. My son was so happy and eager to join the sessions.
My son had a total blast! He loved the teachers and the class itself. He was sad when it ended! I will sign him up again next summer!
We didn't go. We went to camp EDMO the week before and my daughter didn't enjoy it and asked not to return. It was an art camp but I didn't see much art coming home, and she loves making art. Also, it didn't help my confidence that 5 minutes after dropping her off on the first day, they called me and asked what they should do with her if she's refusing to go into the room where the other kids are.
This class was for students who are being introduced to scratch. My son already had some experience. So, while it encouraged him to use his already learned skills, he did not learn anything new.
My son attended a Chemistry Lab camp at Menlo Park this August. The only what I liked about the camp is that children were all the time outside in the big park with plenty of space to play and run and that they had lots of materials for arts and crafts. However, I expected the camp that called âChemistry Labâ to be more about chemistry. The campers had maximum two chemical experiments per day performed by their coach and no materials were given to kids to make an experiment on their own. As for the rest of the day, there was nothing related to chemistry. So, I would not say that my son learned at least something about chemistry as itâs been promised in the campâs description. In addition to that, I absolutely dislike how some coaches were frightening children to send them for timeout if they donât listen to their commands or donât behave. Itâs happened first time in my sonâs experience of attending summer camp and I just donât understand this practice. If kids are kept busy and interested (which is actually what people are looking for in a summer camp), they wonât have time to misbehave and would be happy to follow instructions. And even if the coaches didnât really mean to use time-outs, is it really a right way to communicate with children?
My daughter was enrolled in the Animation Camp. Out of five camps (by different companies) she attended this summer, this is the only one she disliked and she begged us not not to send her the last day (we didnât). They really didnât learn much about animation, which was a let down since my daughter loves creating movies and was really looking forward to it.
My kids loved this camp. The counselors were wonderful.

I found this camp while searching on Activity Hero for activities for my 11 year old grandson. This camp came up as a choice for 9-12 year olds. Unfortunately when he went to camp the first day he learned he was the eldest child there and most of the children were in the 4-9 year old range. He was disappointed that the actual activity, learning the website Scratch and how to create your own games on that site, was restricted to about 2 hours of the 6 hour camp day. The rest was devoted to play and organized games. We stuck it out because the camp was expensive and there are no refunds. But I would definitely say this is NOT a camp for children up to age 12!

All the reviews were pretty on target. Not engaging enough for my two kids. It was very expensive but it is pretty much just self-play with the other kids for the 6 hours and only a few hours of any art/teaching engineering happened.
They won't refund or give credit if you have to cancel or miss a few days in the camp. For the arm and a leg that they are charging, I would have expected some flexibility. This is my last EDMO camp.

The cooking lesson was great! My daughter loved it so much she offered to clean her room to thank me for signing her up. And she has baked flatbread three times since!
They did a great job of creating a seminar of community/camp over zoom and my daughter learned a ton about cooking and the science of cooking. She really enjoyed it and was a bit dubious to try it at first!
The teachers are awesome and kept my daughter well entertained. With these challenging times it's hard to keep the kids attention span during the zoom meeting but by doing projects, it worked and engaged her to want to do more projects with the left over material.

Amazing experience for my shy 10 year old. He didn't want to show his face on the video screen or share his work in the beginning, but he got comfortable amazingly quickly and loved his teacher, Eileen. The music mixing app they learned to use was great fun, and he was very proud of his compositions.
My kids tell me that the class is boring. I also listened online and there was no "engagement" for of the students. Before signing up, I saw the description of the class and was told that the child would be given some gadgets and games to play. But for 5 days, we didn't see any "PLAY", just videos, narration.... The main thing is that the class rarely runs on time, the latest class started at 1:20 with a 20-minute delay, and was often Class ends early. So, what did my child learn in this lesson? I don't know.

Hi Lina, sorry you and your child didn't enjoy the camp. Did you communicate with our staff prior to posting this review? Often times, if we know a child is not engaged, our staff can make an extra effort to connect with your child. That's one of the benefits of our live, interactive programming. It's also why we keep our Instructor: Camper ratio small. As for class starting late, we do a 3-layer authentication process for safety. It does mean that classes will start a few minutes past the official start time. We give families advance notice of this in our welcome packet, but it can get missed among all the other information we send. Usually checkin goes quicker after the first day and that yours got better as the week progressed. Feel free to reach out to us at live@campedmo.org and let's see if we can give it a try with a different theme. Sometimes a different theme is all it takes to turn a frown upside down : ).

Very good camp, I enjoyed this camp a lot because 1: I got to meet new kids and instructors. 2: I love to build houses in Minecraft and this was exactly the same.

Very disappointing it was more like day care than actual activities around food. There was a clear bias for girls and discouragement of boys which is completely unacceptable and the primary reason for this one-star review. The instructor seemed engaged but the content was not what we expected from the online description. We organized and purchased all the supplies requested and barely used any of them so there was considerable wasted effort and expense.
He enjoyed the camp and it was a great way for him to focus on building and working on a theme. The instructors provided specific tasks and checked on participants progress during the sessions. I would have liked to see some feedback for Parents and the participants for them to improve their skills. Despite the lack of feedback, my son enjoyed the camp and it is a great way to keep kids occupied during the lock down.

Our âcamp counselorâ Nick, was very sweet and encouraging. The kids seemed to real be enthralled with the class. They did a mix of intro games, Roblox create learning and social/emotional learning. I would have liked them to build more and play in each otherâs world more. They seemed to really enjoy being virtually together when their characters got to interact. I would have also maybe like nightly challenges. It would have helped the kids put into practice what they learned. After class my son just got on to play and not to create.

I highly recommend Camp Edmo camps. They are very professional. My daughter (soon to be 6) attend the Wild about Wildlife online camp by Camp Edmo. She thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to each session. The teacher was very engaging and made sure the kids were not getting bored. She had fun making the projects.
My granddaughter tells me that she really needed a separate monitor for the zoom call vs the Roblox programming - wish we had known this in advance.

The Roblox camp that my 8 year old daughter took was fun in that it brought kids from all over the nation together to learn about an interesting and challenging game. The instructor was very patient and kind with the kids, my daughter really liked him. However, it was a rather chaotic camp, as there seemed to be a lot of kids in the online camp. There were a few students who weren't following the instructor's directions, and that kind of ruined the experience for the other campers, as the instructor kept having to deal with the kids that were messing around and ruining the game world. It's a bit expensive for what my daughter got out of it. I would recommend smaller class sizes, and offering more controls to the instructor to block disruptive student actions.
The check in process has not been smooth. The camp requires us to print things beforehand and if you don't own printer, you have an upset child
A lot of materials seem to have been needed, and a large portion of the week was spent just talking about topics unrelated and trying to sort out the classes.

This was our first experience with EDMO online and I am so glad we decided to give it a try. Our son has experienced summer camp with EDMO and loved it, he spent a week in Minecraft: EDMOtopia when he was 6. My son loved this. Our laptop wasn't loading Minecraft properly so one of the camp team members helped us troubleshoot/ reinstall Java/ and get it working so could still participate in the class. Then we were issued a credit to attend another class because missed part of this one while fixing Java even though attended most of the session. My son Enzo had a lot of fun learning how to do manipulate objects in Minecraft. Very nice, responsive, and capable staff, great experience!

We have been Edmo campers for over 10 years. We were so excited to see how quickly Edmo offered online classes. The variety is amazing! Our son recently attended the music making class. Not only did it keep him busy for the class time but also introduced him to a new (free) app to make music and he has been spending time making music online ever since. They would have liked something more engaging for warm up as the activity was based on something from previous days which they didnât know. Camp Edmo has created a winning Summer Camp for my family! The creativity combined with social-emotional skills was amazing for my kids. They came home each day with new cheers, games, etc that were able to carry over into our camping trips!

Camp EDMO was great! My son enjoyed it very much this summer, taught him a lot of videography editing skills that he can continue to use.
My son had a great time and they did a nice job of ensuring the kids had a variety of activities throughout the day and not just Minecraft in front of a computer.
I do reviews rarely, however, this camp was WAY below an average camp. My son (EDMO Pro) was in a 2-week camp for robotics and a 1-week camp for Minecraft mod programming.
1- The camp regular hours is from 9 am to 3 pm (without before/aftercare). Out of those hours, only 2 hours is spent on learning (or as they call it enrichment). I wouldn't have a problem with that if for the rest of the day they had some fun. But sitting there and watching instructors playing so and so together is not considered a summer fun activity for 5th-8th-grade kids.
2- The instructor at the robotics camp was professional but unfortunately didn't have adequate knowledge of the subject. My son knew more than he did. The description on their website was misleading otherwise I would have never signed up my son for a camp that is below his level of knowledge.
3- The instructor at the Minecraft mod coding camp was not only incompetent but also what I would describe as an obsessed, non-professional instructor. The first day of the camp the instructor spent half an hour on a threatening pep-talk that if you do so and so and so will happen. When my son asked him about a line of code to learn why he should write the code like that the instructor replied: "because I said so". All the time the only thing they were allowed to do was to copy the code, no questions, no discussion to explore or figure things out was allowed. It is very unfortunate to see that EDMO camp's definition of learning and having fun is to copy from the instructor without asking a question. That sounds more like a factory model of education. We are in the 21st century and things have changed dramatically.
To summarize our experience: zero learning and zero fun.

My 2 boys ages 9 and 11 took the game design camp in the summer of 2018. They both loved the camp, especially the camp counselors who they said were very cool and look forward to more Edmo camps in the future.
My daughter liked Camp Edmo of all her summer camps. We love the park location as it allows her to be outside when the weather is great. The thing that makes Camp Edmo different is the camp counsellors. They really seem happy to be there and with kids. They also do fun things like have camp handles.
Canât recommend it enough! My son who is almost 6 had a rough first camp experience last summer so I wanted to group him with friends from school and found Edmo through another mom. The director Natalie and the counselors under here were incredibly accommodating and organized and made it so easy for parents to feel safe about leaving their child in their charge the whole day.
My son lit up with all the engineering and creative and collaborative and engaging building activities and proudly cheered his EDMO cheers with his friends at the park after camp. The aftercare was so accommodating at a moments notice when I was running late and overall Iâm convinced this is the camp for all my 3 boys moving forward for years and summers in the future. Beyond impressed.

To wake up on an Edmo camp day and have my 6-year-old dressed and excited for camp definitely starts the day on the right note. I also love that I don't have to pack a lunch for him to eat something healthy. Although Edmo is not the most inexpensive summer camp we participate in, I find myself adding more weeks each year. It is very convenient in both hours and location, and my child is always engaged and learns a lot. Since science and art don't get top billing during the school year, I like that we can make up for it in such a fun way over the summer. The most important thing for me about Edmo is that my child just LOVES it, and he's not all that easy to please where summer camps are concerned. I don't know anyone who has tried it and not returned â our prized Edmo buttons are safe where they can remind us of this summer!

We have enrolled Trevor at Camp Edmo in the Presidio campus for 3 summers now and he absolutely loves it. After his first summer at Edmo, Trevor came home and decided to create a Science Museum in our basement (three years later and its only grown). Last summer he came home and said "Mom, next summer all I want to do is Edmo!" because he had so much fun. He couldn't wait to tell me about the games they played, the things they learned, and what he wants to accomplish as a result. It's the type of excitement children should have about learning. I especially appreciate the opportunities that Edmo has given Trevor outside of camp. For example, one year Edmo hosted a "film festival" at the Exploratorium where animation films that the kids did were shown and the children got to walk down "the red carpet". Another year Trevor's animation film was featured at Macworld. These opportunities have made Edmo a completely unique and enriching experience for Trevor and our family.
Plus, having the camp close to our house and providing the extended hours makes it very easy as a working parent to drop off/pick up. Edmo is a little more expensive than other summer camp programs but we have tried many of the other programs and this is the one that ignites a spark in my child. Having your child so excited about what he is learning is indeed priceless!

My kids LOVE Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech and always ask to go back every summer. The staff gets to know each child and really makes them feel special. They are great role models. Seeing the huge smiles on my boys' faces when picking them up, and listening to them talk excitedly about the projects they were working on makes my day as a parent. It was amazing to be able to have them at camp all day long on a beautiful summer day and know that they would be outside learning, singing, enjoying their summer. Not only is it the most fun camp my kids have attended, but they also learn so much about specific trades, about teamwork and a lot of life-lessons along the way. It's definitely a camp in which you get more for your money. Also, it doesn't hurt that it always takes place at my kids' school, so it's five minutes from my house. Sign your kids up now! You will never want to send them to another camp again!

my 9 year old loved both her sessions. The counselors were great and responsive to parent inquiries. Everything was 'just so much fun' and I liked the daily themes. Nice location too!

Edmo is more than just camp: it's science, art, outdoor playtime, creativity, and great summer fun - all rolled into one. Plus, the staff and counselors are amazing. The counselors and camp director were genuinely interested in getting to know my daughter, and before the end of the first day, they had already won her over.
The program is very comprehensive in it's offering and well organized. The art and science projects are - in a word - COOL and there are lessons embedded within each day's activities. I felt as though my daughter was learning, creating, and having a great time - every day. The Mill Valley location was convenient and centrally-located as well.
Edmo is a summer camp that gives kids the chance to explore, learn, play, be silly, laugh, get wet, run around, share, make friends, dream, and enjoy the beauty of summer. We're back for our third year this summer!

Our kids just love Edmo. They probably think that they love the fun part, and I love the learning part. (In truth, I also love that they're having fun.) I am a bit of a nut about safety, and I have never remotely had any kind of concern about Edmo. I love that the kids are well cared for by trained and skilled staff, we're able to purchase organic lunches from Kid Chow, and Edmo's location are at campuses we're familiar with. Last year, my son was so enthusiastic about the animation session he attended that he was inspired to make many a film during the year on his own. We were so impressed with the skills that he gained, and what he was able to create. Attending multiple weeks definitely makes a difference with pricing! We drop excited and enthusiastic kids off in the morning and pick up happy and inspired kids in the afternoon ... what more could we ask for?

Enroll your child(ren) at Camp Edmo! Edmo makes learning about science and technology fun and exciting - once Camp Edmo was over my daughters wanted to return right away. The staff was fabulous - enthusiastic and upbeat, with the staff to camper ratio small. I really enjoyed the take home sheets to learn more about the camp day. Kids learn in a fun and dynamic environment while having a fabulous summer. We'll be back again this summer! We all have that Edmo vibe!

Both my kids have attended this camp over a couple of years (at a different SF location). Both rate it as perhaps their favorite each year. My 8 year old son was quite apprehensive the first day - it seemed loud and chaotic and he didn't have any friends. The councilors are young and I think they are selected based on their peppiness - it is very high energy and RAH RAH! But turns out my kids loved all the camp cheers and spirit once they got used to it. All the sessions have had art and science projects that the kids have really enjoyed and they have also had a great time playing the games in the PE session.
