Gain the ability to write actual code and use real world building techniques/tools to build and wire-up *your very own robotic arm!
How It Works:
The Multi-Axis Arm workshop is broken up into 4 different levels. Each level is designed to be one to three sessions long depending upon the builder. Each builder progresses through the levels at their own pace. Every workshop ticket includes a 4 hour session with hands-on and online instructions from both fellow builders and our instructors. There is no rigid schedule or start date for a particular level or workshop. You may start and continue on any workshop date or time as you wish; you make your own schedule.
Level 1
Get out of the house and prepare to experience the magic of building your own technology. Build a real multi-axis robotic arm capable of picking up and moving objects, such as your favorite beverage container. This exciting excursion from Build A Robot Workshop includes:
The joy of building *your robot through fun team building and game like instructions
Transport yourself to an island adventure while gaining the ability to read schematics using our map style schematics
Watch as you bring your new creation to life
Operate a real laser cutter and etch your name on *your robot (Sunnyvale Location Only)
Level 2
Continue your journey through the maze of technology and conquer your fears of coding. Discover the joy of commanding *your robotic arm around and maneuvering through obstacles. This amazing adventure from Build A Robot Workshop includes:
Name your own islands as you progress through the code
Navigate and command your robotic arm to different locations to pick up and move objects around it
Write your own code and watch as your robotic arm follows your commands
Level 3
Venture on and continue honing your new found tech skills as you build *your own physical robot controller. Your controller takes your physical inputs and turns them into robot instructions for your robot to instantaneously copy your every move. This thrilling expedition from Build A Robot Workshop includes:
Build *your own robot command controller and watch as your robot mimics your exact movements
Return to the island adventure to navigate and wire-up the new electronic components
Create new code so that your robot can understand your movements
Level 4
Brave the wild once again as you return to the island adventure to finish what you started. Turn *your robot arm into a scorpion capable of picking up your favorite beverage container and handing it to you. This electrifying experience from Build A Robot Workshop includes:
Transform the head of *your robot arm into a scorpion grapple and pick up objects
Complete your island excursion and finish wiring-up the rest of the components
Create new code to control the scorpion grapple
Build skills and permanent connections through soldering
