By learning through doing, you'll pick up essential coding concepts and create your very own projects, all while having tons of fun! No prior coding experience is necessary - let's start creating!
Day 1: Introduction to Scratch & Creating Your First Project
- Introduction to Scratch: the interface, sprites, backdrops, sounds, and the block palette
- Create your first Scratch project: an animated greeting card
- Homework: Personalize your animated card with your own ideas
Day 2: Exploring Motion & Looks Blocks
- Learn about motion and looks blocks: moving sprites, changing costumes, and altering sprite visibility
- Hands-on project: Create a simple animation using motion and looks blocks
- Homework: Add extra animations and sprites to your project
Day 3: Control & Sensing Blocks
- Dive into control and sensing blocks: loops, conditionals, and user interaction
- Hands-on project: Design a quiz game using control and sensing blocks
- Homework: Add more questions and enhance user interaction in your quiz game
Day 4: Sound & Events Blocks
- Explore sound and events blocks: playing sounds, broadcasting messages, and triggering scripts
- Hands-on project: Develop a music band project where each sprite plays different sounds
- Homework: Add more sprites and sounds to your music band project
Day 5: Final Project & Presentation
- Review the blocks learned during the week
- Final project: Design and build your own Scratch game or story using learned concepts
- Presentation: Share your project with the class
