BEan IN NATURE

LOOKING FOR SUMMER WORK!?  CONTACT US beanregistrar2@gmail.com

At BEan In Nature, our mentors facilitate activities that lead kids to love, care and connect with nature. We do this not by using a ‘teach at the child’ didactic model, but instead we use the skillful art of questioning, creative guiding and mentoring.  We have an experiential child-led focus and facilitate learning by doing. We share our contagious enthusiasm, our imagination, and our own love of nature.

We believe that connecting to nature with the guidance of a creative nature mentor, who skillfully facilitates nature awareness and ancestral skills and crafts while out in nature’s classroom, allows children to develop a strong sense of self and a natural love of science. In this design, children are naturally accessing their whole imaginations and incorporating their whole focus, all while growing into amazing stewards of the Earth.

Our Staff

Marisa facilitates and mentors students through the art of questioning and experiential teaching techniques, while always striving to meet the child where they are academically and developmentally.  Sharing her own expertise and passions for natural history subjects has been a core educational component of Marisa’s life while she continues to home school her own children.

Our instructors have an average of two to five years of experience in Earth outdoor education. This experience must be relevant to our program in that  they must have performed duties very similar to their responsibilities at BEan In Nature. They must prove to us that they were at the top of their game while accruing their experience. We thoroughly check references. All staff are live scanned.

My daughter is so excited about this summer camp every year. I love how everything is about nature and play. The counselors are enthusiastic, patient, and creating a safe and joyful environment. What stands out most is how the camp encourages curiosity and independence. We’re already counting down the days to the next camp!

Marisa and her team do a wonderful job in their nature programs with the kids. My kids have attended both a weekly homeschool group as well as teen weekend campouts. The kids are always excited to go and come home happy, and love to talk about all the stuff they have learned. Marisa is such a great educator and she puts a lot of thought on the program and also on making sure everyone feels welcomed and safe - I have been impressed by the way she has handled some challenging situations (with respect, firmness and support all at the same time).

We love BEan in nature! I’m so glad I found this amazing group - they taught my son so much in just one summer. He would come home with so much experience and knowledge around local plants and bugs. They made a big spray, taught them knitting and so many games. It was truly a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to go back this summer!

Questions & Answers
I have a question about the cost? I received an email saying save $100 as an early bird saving, but it looks as if the price has only been reduced from$ 700 to $650. And then with the $50 registration fee, it appears like there really is no savings because I would be paying the rack rate of $700 anyway. (Anderson Native Naturalist Program) -

HELLO! Our cost for the 7 weeks is $700 with a $50 registration fee. The early bird allows you to cut that cost of the $50 off for the 7 week program. If you are to pay the full 14 weeks, you can cut cost by $100 with the Reg fee added. If you need support for cost, please let us know! -
