About
Beach Cities Volleyball Club

Beach Cities Volleyball Club (BCVC) is a non-profit youth sports organization. The Club’s priorities are to teach volleyball skills, character development and to have fun. BCVC works very hard to create an atmosphere wherein players at all skill levels can become “the best that they can be” and have a positive experience. From teaching the basic fundamentals to beginners and improving strategies for intermediate players, to advancing skills of high performance players to be competitive in high school and college, BCVC is dedicated to every individual regardless of income level or ethnicity.

Since its inception in 2000, Beach Cities Volleyball has been teaching young adults in Southern California how to improve their life skills through volleyball. The Mission Statement of Beach Cities Volleyball is to “Teach life skills and volleyball skills to athletes 8 to 18 years of age.” Beach Cities Volleyball works very hard to create beginning, intermediate and advanced teams at every age level. The beginning players work very hard (while having fun) to become intermediate players, the intermediate players work very hard (while having fun) to become advanced players, and the advanced teams work very hard (while having fun) to be among the best in the country. Over 200 Beach Cities Volleyball players also compete for their school teams throughout the South Bay, and young ladies and Young men who played at Beach Cities Volleyball have gone on to play for their college teams across the nation.

Our Staff

Our coaches are hired based on their understanding that they are to be responsible, positive role models as well as possess strong volleyball backgrounds.  All of our coaches receive background checks and IMPACT (which stresses the relationship between positive reinforcement and youth coaching) certification as part of normal operations.

Honors & Awards

In January, 2018, the Club's founder, Chip Schulte, was awarded the KNX HEROES AWARD "honoring noteworthy contributions to our community" from KNX10.70 NEWSRADIO.

Boys indoor volleyball is a great game that has been big positive for my son. In Southern California there will be at least 4 girls teams to 1 boys team. Many clubs are just girls, and I only know of 1 boys only team. I have a son in the Beach Cities Volleyball Club which is both a boys and girls club. This review is for the indoor Beach Cities Volleyball Club (BCVC) BOYS program. My son is starting his third season with his third coach. My son has played against and attended some camps of the other clubs in the region, and this is a quick list of BCVC strengths.
1. No other club comes anywhere near offering as much playing opportunities when including practices, camps, and clinics.
2. BCVC is by far the best value when looking a minute of court time to price.
3. Girls and boys sometimes practice at the same time, or even coed. If you are looking to create relaxed social opportunities this can be a big positive.
4. It is a non profit organization, which means you are participating in a community building organization.

In all the organized team sports I have been involved in, the atmosphere the coach brings to the team is so important. In club volleyball the season is long (Sept-June), so it can be even more important. When looking around the web sites, the coaches will list their CV's. I have found that they don't always relate to bringing joy and camaraderie to the kids practice after practice. You have to see the chemistry with your son and the coach that will coach your team at the tryouts.
Christian Cammayo pretty much runs the boys side of the program, and has really increased the usability of the beachcitiesvbc.com website, so it is much more useful now. The one con of the Beach Cities Club Boys (I am not familiar with the girls) vs some of the others is visibility to colleges, but this summer (2021) Christian has added a new college program with many features. I am looking forward to see how this works out.
Boys volleyball is a great game that has many moments of joy in each set of each match for both sides of the court. Where ever your volleyball adventure takes you, remember the parents cheer and coaches coach.

My daughter is 14 and has been playing volleyball at BCVC. she is thriving with the wonderful coaching and development she has received over the years from the great coaches. My 7 year old daughter has started playing on the Future Stars program that helps children younger than club playing age grow in coordination and a love for the sport of volleyball. BCVC feels Iike family!

My 15 year old plays club with Beach Cities Volleyball Club and loves it. It is a good balance between rigorous and fun/flexible. My 12 year old attended some of the clinics last summer and enjoyed them far more than she expected.
