The Bayganda Foundation uses the art of sewing to empower young girls (and a few boys) ages 8-15 to use their creativity and education not only as a creative outlet but as a trade promoting entrepreneurial skills and self sustainability.
The Sew What experience teaches print and pattern making, design , marketing, team building, entrepreneurial and community field trip to Levi’s HQ is San Francisco and now offers textile storytelling through our new Tie-Dye Project.
Erica Varize: Camp Founder and Head Teacher taught in the Oakland Public school system for 10 years implementing a sewing and mentor curriculum in 9 elementary and middle schools. Together with Sew What? Sewing Camp alumni and her mother Renee McGhee a Montessori Educator for over 25 years, they foster an environment of creativity and inclusivity.
