I have 5 year old twins who have fallen in love with chess but they do not play yet (they can set up the board and have the general idea). However, they have school in the morning times offered or a school-sponsored remote day. Is there an afterschool time available? (For Brand New Chess Players)

Hello! Welcome to BAC! You've come to the right place for Chess! Unfortunately, the final round of classes has begun to take us through December, so there aren't any Level 1 classes posted at this time other than a Winter Chess-Camp available for the last week of December. We will also have courses open in January for all Skill-Levels, you will be able to find more about those dates soon. If the students already know how the pieces move, they can join the level 1 course that is currently in progress (they just had their 2nd class). This is available on Wednesdays at 2pm (pst). If you would like to register for this, we can add you to the course (next week is OFF, so the next class would be 12/2) and prorate/refund for the 2 classes you missed after your purchase. It would be handy to have the Gold Membership over the week break since you will have unlimited practice and extra lessons available in the account (giving time to catch up!). Please feel free to email us for further assistance! -

We will send all necessary Zoom credentials so as camp's/program's/club's /team's Orientation to the email address proved at the registration. Hope this information is helpful. Sincerely, BAC -
Can my kids switch levels after camps start if they find it too easy? My son is between level 2 and 3 and I signed him up for 2. (Online Chess Courses & Camps)
asked on Jun 25, 2020
Jun 25, 2020 - BAC Bayareachess
We do recommend entering at Level 2, if you are not certain about your child's current level in chess, and if your child has already taken some chess lessons/has previously attended chess camp. If Level 2 appears too easy, we can suggest a move ( if there is a space!) during the same week of camp, or switch to the next level for the next camp's week. -
Are the virtual sessions open to Absolute beginners? (Online Chess Courses & Camps)
asked on Jun 09, 2020
Jun 09, 2020 - BAC Bayareachess
Yes! Level 1- Absolute Beginners: For BRAND NEW players only; still learning the pieces and unable to checkmate. Topics can include: Piece names/movement, starting position, turn-sequence, piece values, special rules, general board competencies and checks/checkmates. Combine with the first 8 video lessons on ChessKid for optimal development and support! The average new player, age 6+, that completes 5 sessions and 8 Chesskid lessons should only have to stay in Level 1 for a single week. Age 5 depends on enthusiasm and practice. -
