The tournament finishes in two hours. Players can withdraw from the event by using the "exit" button within the platform.
This tournament is open to both children and adults of any age or rating. Tournament will be rated under the USCF online quick rating system. It will be run on our Chess platform integrated into our website. USCF Membership required. Contact us at info@gmbarbosachess.com or +13476182580 for new USCF Membership application or renewal.
Scoring system
Though the platform gives 1 point for a win, half point each for a draw and none if you lose, we employ a different scoring system as your points for the season. A win earns you 3 points, 1.5 points each if the game ends in a draw, and 1 point even if you lose! Total points will be calculated after the season and that would determine the final standings. Current points standings will also be posted on our site on a weekly basis.
Prizes
Top 3 on final standings gets trophies, 4th to 10th place earns medals. Top performers from our regular classes (Pawns, Knights and Bishops, Rooks, Queens) will also be given trophies. Winner's name will be inscribed on trophies.
Registration closes at 12 am of Sunday and you will receive an email from us about the instructions and links by 7 am of the day's event. Please check your spam/promotions folder for our email.
Fair Play Policy
Players are required to join a Zoom meeting during the tournament. We have an integrated "bot" watching the moves' algorithms and we will closely monitor the games. If your account is flagged for fair-play violation, we have the right to ask for a screen share during your game or just submit your games as losses. We also might have to report to US Chess about the incident and of course to your parents.
Entry fee is $15 for one Sunday event.
