The Academy of Ballet and Etiquette brings ballet and etiquette classes to venues all around the Bay Area. We help children build physical confidence and cultural awareness, and believe this is the foundation for social grace and self-awareness.
Our preschool and early elementary ballet curriculum uses the stories of the great ballets to teach steps, manners and motivations. In the process the children learn ballet as a sport, a set of moral codes and a layered cultural experience. Each class ends with a puppet story of the ballet and a recitation of the name of the composer.
We also offer 4-hour, 6-hour and 10-hour etiquette courses, as well as online courses, to teach children how to make introductions, have conversations, dine Continental and American style, speak well in person and on the phone (especially important during emergencies), write thank you notes and invitations, and how to properly send such mail. Courtesies and curtsies are part of all of our lessons!
Sara Vizcarrondo brings ballet and etiquette lessons to preschools around Silicon Valley. She was trained in Vaganova ballet from a young age and danced with the Solano Civic Ballet until college, finishing as Snow Queen in the Nutcracker and soloist in Giselle. She holds a certification to teach etiquette from the American School of Protocol and is finishing a Master Teacher Certificate at DeAnza College. She's fingerprinted to teach at preschools and certified in CPR, Pest Management (for preschools) and cleared to teach by the San Jose Catholic Diocese (though her classes do not address religion).
