Overview

Student-Teacher Ratio 8:1

Applied Computing Foundation ("ACF") offers comprehensive programming curriculum for kids from 7 to 18. We specialize in getting beginners from onboarding to programming concepts through hands-on projects. Then we transition them to general purpose programming so they eventually become fluent with it.

ACF is getting kids ready for the future and connecting them to the real world through competition experience, product development and projects combined with their interest. In addition to technical competency, we emphasize 5C: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and community.

Join ACF Lego robotics camp (Lego Wedo, Lego Spike), learn fundamental and get competition experience. ACF is a proud regional host of World Robot Olympiad.

** Each week will have different program and it can be repeated **

During the camp, students will create robots of various themes! They will learn physical science concepts of structure design - pulleys, levers, gears, wheels and axels, and of course, coding concepts to bring life to their creations. In the afternoon, they will be introduced to another robot to reinforce the coding concept & hardware programming they learn in the morning. We will finish the week with mockup competition.

FAQs

  1. Covid-19 Protocol: All our staff are vaccinated and covid-19 tested. We will maintain recommended social distancing and we recommend every camper and staff wear masks. Parents/guardians can drop off/pick up students at reception desk, but they are not allowed to enter the classroom to minimize contact.
  2. Can I sign up multiple weeks? Yes! ACF's curriculum is progressively designed to build upon student's experience and understanding week by week. As our lesson plan is project based, we can easily individualize the learning experience for each student. We assess each student on the first day of the camp and customize the lesson for them. If you have a certain goal in mind for your kid, please let us know. We will work with you to accomplish that.
  3. Anything to bring? We provide everything needed for the class. Please bring water bottle, snack and lunch.
  4. Afternoon sessions will be dedicated to Maze Robot Competition prep.

Get students ready for the robotics competition: World Robotics Olympiads, FLL and anyone of their choice!

My twin sons participated in a week-long seminar put on by ACF that focused on Biology, DNA, and VR programming. The instructors were noteworthy and great at helping the students to discover answers through hands-on discovery. I was amazed at the projects my sons were able to work on in only a few days time, and am very grateful they got the opportunity to attend!

We enjoyed working with him as well. He is very motivated and hard working. He is one of those students who take time to try what he learns on his own after the class and we really enjoyed answering to him and emailing back to him!
