History of Rock At The Hard Rock Camp

History of Rock at The Hard Rock Camp is a 5 day camp, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm that culminates with a live performance at the legendary Hard Rock Cafe on the infamous Beale Street in downtown Memphis! This camp is designed for kids 9-17 years old that are beginner to advanced musicians who want to play music live on stage while exploring when Rock and Roll started, through the classic rock styles, to hair bands, to Grunge, and to modern rock. At the camp we will choose a variety of songs with the camper's input that will grow each musicians appreciation of Rock Music and prepare them to perform live on stage at The Hard Rock Cafe at the end of the week! Whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician we will keep you engaged and challenged and totally ready to rock out at the show on Friday night! It will be a rock and roll experience that you will never forget! We will spend the majority of the time working on the songs and getting ready to perform the concert at the end of the camp for friends and family. Participants can expect to learn more about their instrument, use professional gear in the rehearsal room and on stage, and how to perform the songs in the show. We will also introduce them to a Jam Hub Player Studio and do some recording of their rehearsals. In addition they will learn how to critically analyze music and how to recreate as close as possible the sound that was created by the original artist. We will also discuss the art of stage craft and presence (performing in front of an audience), as well as how to get the right tone and sound out of the instrument. Campers will learn how to work with sound engineers and how to set up for a performance. In addition to the musical aspects, campers will also learn team work, accountability, goal setting, communication skills, and will have a great sense of accomplishment and confidence for the hard work and discipline it will take to make the concert happen at the end of the week. They will be amazed at what they can achieve in a week. Campers will be directed by members of our awesome faculty and will have assistance and interaction from camp counselors made up of our more experienced and advanced School of Rock students.
