Little Medical School - California

My daughter loved it. It is very good camp for kids to get a feel about how it will be to become a doctor. They learn the basics.

Painfully boring. If I could give this 0 starts, I would. My daughter had been so excited. She loves animals and dreams of being a vet when she grows up. The first day actually fell on her birthday and she was up early to be ready to go. Total letdown.
The instructors are all young - college students. I did some student myself and was actually excited by that, thinking this would be good because they would be high energy and engaging. Wrong. They were not engaging at all. Their energy was flat the whole time. We thought we got disconnected a few times, but it was really the instructor's inability to communicate that she was putting everyone, including herself, on mute while they did "the activity". The kids then colored wile she read her book. We did get disconnected a couple of times and put into a different room when we got back on (the way the camp is set up is one big public service announcement and then age driven breakout rooms).
There were a couple of kids who have clearly taken this camp before. How/why they are doing it again I have no idea, because from what I can tell it's the exact same each time. They knew every answer and would talk over everyone. They would even go ahead and read the "spoilers". The teacher had no sense of how to manage a virtual classroom.
After day one, my daughter was begging me not to make her do it anymore. We are not strangers to online camp. We've done a few over the summer - both weeklong and one offs. Everything from choir to dance to science to Greek Mythology class. I have a sponge who wants to learn it all. Most have been fantastic. This was terrible.
Day 2 and we had tears. "Please don't make me do it again!" Day 3, same story. Day 4 she tried again. I kept saying, "I paid for this and you were so excited so give it another chance." School isn't always fun, you need to learn to power through. But this should be fun. It should excite them about learning.
They mentioned they usually do this in person and maybe that would be better, but at this point, I can't in good faith force my child, who is now happily completing math worksheets, to continue the rest of the session. She is miserable and I can barely keep my eyes open listening from the next room. Do not subject your child to this.

My daughter Hannah had an incredible time at her week long virtual Vet class. She is 6 and I was blown away how she sat and engaged with the teachers for a full 2 hours that she said "would just fly by!". The kit mailed ahead of time included her "patient" pup and the hands-on educator led activities such as measuring nose to tail, cleaning her pup's ears and vocabulary word lessons were informative and exciting. Thank you to LMS teachers Carolyn, Vaishnavi, Amogh and Haranath (sorry if I missed anyone!) who were patient, approachable & smart. You all truly gave Hannah the highlight week in a summer harder than most, spent staying in and safe in New York. She has been practicing her Vet skills and vocabulary and currently has dressed the wounds of her favorite stuffies, Bunny, Eeyore and her toy pup from the class now named Jeffrey, with many more ailments to be treated soon.

My boys enjoyed this! Very engaging - the teachers were awesome!!
