About
Lascaux Academy

Lascaux Academy has been offering fun and innovative art, language, and technology classes since 2005. We also provide seasonal art camps for children from ages 5 to 15. We teach year round sessions from ages 3 to adult.

We are a group of professional artists and teachers who are dedicated to our craft and passionate about what we do! We teach traditional and modern drawing and painting techniques using a wide variety of subjects. We love to teach and encourage our students to discover and explore their own personal passion.

We have three classrooms in our bright and spacious studio located on El Camino Real in Belmont, California. All art supplies are provided for in class use. Art supplies are also available for purchase.

Our Staff

Our instructors are professional artists and engineers and passionate about teaching their individual craft. They employ both traditional (non-digital) and modern (digital) teaching methods, and use a broad range of themes and subjects. Our goal is to encourage our students to be as proficient and comfortable as possible with their chosen medium to express themselves, whether it is a paint brush and soft pastels or a computer microprocessor and mouse. We do not emphasize one method over the other as both are important for a balanced eduction. We limit our class size to 8 students, so each student receives tailored and personal instruction. Finally, we encourage our students to be creative and think outside of the box as much as possible, while at the same time adhering to the structure and technique taught by the instructor.

The art projects that the academy that my daughter completed at the camp are great, and I'm thankful that she got exposed to different forms/mediums of art work while at this camp. I would probably not recommend doing a full day of camp though because there's nowhere for the kids to get any outside activity/exercise.

My daughter enjoyed the painting class and brought home 3 amazing paintings. I wish she would continue the class, but the schedule doesn’t work unfortunately.

The curriculum is good, but my (very easy-going) child didn't really like the teacher. She was pretty strict and hard to understand. If you are signing your child up, figure out first who the teacher is and if they are a good fit.
