North Gait Equestrian Center

My daughter Zoe absolutely loved this camp. She would have stayed there all summer. The camp taught her not just about riding horses, but what it's really like to be at a stable day after day and the hard work required to take care of these beautiful animals. We hope they continue these camps every summer.

North Gait has always provided such an amazing camp experience for our family. They are passionate about sharing their knowledge and love of horses, and our daughter has learned so much over the years about how to ride and care for our beautiful equine friends. This is their last year running the camp program, and although we’re sad to say goodbye we’re also deeply thankful to have had this experience in our community. Special thanks to Rachel, the Henderson family, and all the staff and volunteers. We will miss you!!

This was the most physically intensive camp my six year old has done and she said she can't wait to return. There was a nice blend of riding, horse education, learning the process to take care of a horse, and crafts involving horse themes (she loved decorating a frame with a photo of her on the horse in it). We definitely plan to enroll in another camp in the future.

My kid had a great time despite a heat wave. She says she would go back and would like to do more with horses, so I think thats a win! Thank you!

My granddaughters, age 10 & 12, had their first experience riding a horse and they both loved it!!! I highly recommend NorthGait Equestrian Center to anyone wanting to learn to ride!!!

Highly recommend! My daughter attended summer camp and she did not want it to end! She had so much fun, while learning so much about horses and horse safety. North Gait Equestrian does a wonderful job running the camp and keeping both campers and horses healthy and happy. We also love the small details like the pictures, shirt, and performance video. She had such a wonderful experience and she's already looking forward to more lessons and camps in the future!

Great instruction and how to be a safe and smart equestrian. Activities were very fun and students learn all about care and maintenance of horse too.

My 6 year old daughter went to summer camp and had so much fun! We went to other horse camps before but none of them were as organized as this one. During summer, when weather hits 100+ degrees, the location offers sufficient shaded areas and the kids actually ride in a covered arena. The kids have two riding opportunities a day and a lot of other fun activities. At the last day of camp, they have a pizza party, and a big horse show for which they trained the entire week. Each day, my daughter came home exhausted and so happy looking forward to the next day. We will definitely be back next summer!

My three kids attended a three-day holiday camp during Covid and had a wonderful time learning about horses, taking care of them and riding them. They initially complained to me about having to muck the stalls, but on the third day they didn't complain at all because they were so enamored with the horses and the other furry friends they had met at North Gait. And as far as I'm concerned, mucking stalls is great character-building for them. They had such a wonderful time, they are all begging to take riding lessons there now. In terms of the safety protocols due to Covid, everything felt very safe. Masks were required, small group cohorts, hand sanitizer, etc. I felt confident sending them there during such an uncertain time. My kids came home each day dirty, tired and happy!

My daughter loved all of the activities and the environment. We'll return in the future.

My 9 year old niece had a great time! She rode two different horses each day, and came home talking about them and what she did with them. Her only disappointment was that the camp was over...so we promised her that she could go again next year. Thank you Rachel!

My daughter had a great time at North Gait Equestrian Center. The staff was friendly and everything they did was well organized. Definitely an experience she will remember!

Very well done program. Worth the money. My daughter is a beginner in horse back riding and she came home everyday excited about all that she is learning about horses and riding. The camp mixes in some coloring, education, snack and downtime well. You get your kid back every day happy and tired.

Absolutely the best! We’ve brought our daughter here for a few years now. She came here having never rode a horse and now she loves it! They are so knowledgeable and friendly. The love they have for riding and horses is so evident in every lesson. My daughter has learned so much from completely no here. She cannot wait for her weekly lessons! It’s like home to her.

North Gait Equestrian Center has been such a gift to my daughter. She first fell in love with horses when she was 4 years old and experienced her very first pony ride. From that moment on, she has wanted nothing more than to spend time riding and working with these amazing animals. She took riding lessons, however, always wanted to do more than simply ride. This is when we came across Rachel Henderson and North Gait Equestrian Center. North Gait Equestrian Center is a family run barn. When you step onto their property you are invited into their world and it sincerely is a great place to be! The animals at North Gait Equestrian are not only their pets or strictly for lessons, but are part of their family.
My daughter has not only learned how to ride here but has developed excellent horsemanship skills and appreciates the companionship these animal provide. She can now tack and untack a horse, pick their hooves, groom them, and muck out stalls. North Gait Equestrian Center emphasizes the importance of ground work along with riding. As my daughter’s understanding of horses improves so do her riding skills. All the instructors at North Gait Equestrian are knowledgeable and share the Henderson’s vision. I could not be more happy with our experience here! My daughter will ride for many years to come due to her love of horses and exposure to such a positive learning environment! We just love Rachel and all the people at North Gait Equestrian!! Over the years my daughter has taken lessons at a handful of barns. She deals with anxiety and learns at a slower pace than most. North Gait has been willing to work at her pace and comfort level. Why other places weren’t willing to do that I don’t know; but this place has been so good for her confidence and self-esteem! We are so blessed to have found them!

As an older adult rider, I found the camps both challenging and fun. I was the only adult in the intermediate camp and I was able to keep out with the older kids. I learned a great deal about horsemanship and improved my riding skills.
I have also assisted with one of the camps for kids. Overall, the camps are well organized, with various activities that are both educational and entertaining. I was impressed with how much "horse-time" each camper gets.

My son has been riding for years. I wish we had found North Gait years ago. Everyone is so caring and really tailors each lesson to his needs. They have a wide variety of horses for every level. And best of all he is a regular guy even though he has a mild case of cerebral palsy. I just love this place. We are friends and that means the world to me when humanity isn't as accepting and doesn't have the patience.

My daughter has been on a horse since she was two, and North Gait is the best place she has taken lessons! She started with lessons, and now is also a counselor for groups and camps. The instructors here are great, very patient, and teach everything about horses. Students learn so much more than just riding, including about tack, grooming, and caring for the horses. North Gait is perfect for all levels of riders, and the camps are great!

Incredible experience for my daughter. Extremely well-run and relaxed at the same time. Joyful, fun and a wonderful learning environment. The counselors are fantastic with the kids. Couldn't recommend more highly!
