This camp name and description is confusing. I thought it is a math camp but it does not relate to math at all. My kid played the Minecraft game ALL DAY!!

Thanks for your feedback. Our class name/description is "MathCraft (Math + Minecraft) - CodeREV's MathCraft Camp is our totally unique mix between Minecraft adventures and Math wrapped up in a camp where both you and your camper win as your camper is captivated by learning math in a completely unique and exciting way, INSIDE of Minecraft on CodeREV's one-of-a-kind MathCraft Server!"

Jay's teacher, Joseph, who graduated as a double major with math and CS from UCSC, reported that "On Wednesday I had them complete 2-3 worksheets (addition and subtraction for that day for Jay). Then I had them visit their house and explain how to find the area and perimeter of the house they made. Since Jay wasn’t there for Tuesday when everyone was measuring their houses I had him create a house and had him think about how he could count and calculate his house. He also participated in the red stone closed engineering loop, where he built a closed circuit loop to power things in Minecraft, an engineering principle built on math."

As our more detailed description of this class explains, we teach campers math "experimentally" through the game of Minecraft. We make it FEEL all like playing games, but they are really learning math concepts and principles in a fun, new way by building structures like the house Jay built, and coming up with dimensions of the blocks by counting the length and width and computing perimeter and surface area, and in some cases volume. They are also completing math worksheets that are based on the same digital block structure we use to teach math in Minecraft, which Joseph says that Jay completed successfully, as well as exploring exciting math challenges we have built into the game.

Please let me know if you'd like to jump on a call to review and discuss this in more detail. I hope this explanation provides further clarity that helps elucidate what this class is designed for, and what Jay learned and did while at our camp for his single day and why, and I hope we see him again soon!
