It wasn't really teaching and more like writing prompt giving, but my daughter was entertained for the whole two hours, which was a plus.

For all our writing courses, our emphasis is on the writing process - developing ideas, organization, adding details and word choice, and yes, some grammar and sentence structure, however, the emphasis will be more on the writing process itself more so than the grammar mechanics. Think of it as the editing vs the revising process - we spend more time working with students on the revision process, as that is often the meatier part of writing skills students often need help with (writing strong introductions and conclusions, having clear and detailed evidence/events/arguments, and overall adding more descriptive language in their writing). For narrative writing specifically, we also emphasize developing the plot structure (exposition, rising actions, climax, falling actions, resolutions), and approach narrative writing with both the personal narrative and/or the creative writing formats. Especially for our online classes, we strongly encourage students to email their writing to the instructor before class (ideally the night before) so that more detailed/specific feedback can be given. Otherwise, feedback is giving in real-time during class either through screen share and/or students verbally reading their writings out loud. Hope that helps clarify any questions you may have! If you have more questions, please feel free to call our email us! -

Hello! It was a pleasure connecting with you via phone just now, and I wanted to reply to this message here as well. In short, yes! We definitely do work with writing organization and development of ideas in the students' writing in our academic writing courses. We keep our class sizes small on purpose to allow for that more personalized experience and feedback from our instructors. As discussed over the phone, you may find that the once-a-week classes would be a good fit for continual practice of concepts instead of just one week of one-hour classes. As mentioned, many of our students tend to take multiple weeks of week-long classes to build on the consistency and practice of the writing skills learned. In case you have any further questions, you are always welcome to email or call us directly. Please let us know if we can help in any other way! -
