Dance Mission Youth Program

I love Everything about this place, and Freddy is the best teacher ever! My daughter now LOVES Modern Dance, which is so fun to see!!

My daughter loved this camp! I love how they were very intentional about going over the ground rules and expectation for all the girls, which I feel like set up amazing precedence for the camp. I was surprised at how many dances the kids went over in such a short span of time, but their recital was amazing and the great Overview of some of the dances they worked on. I also girls were broken into smaller groups for their performance at the end. The kids really enjoyed the instructors and you could tell by all the hugs they got at the end was such a great experience and I just love how they incorporate Power and culture and everything into dance and movement and it’s just amazing. I’m excited for my daughter to go back next year.

Our daughter absolutely loved this class! Teacher Brandie did a fantastic job getting her and the other girls to practice and feel comfortable with choreography, and the song selection was on on point. The performance was a lot of fun, and our daughter felt really great about herself afterwards.

We love Dance Mission and have benefited from chair taiko classes for both girls.

My kid loved this class with Marivel and Delaney so much! She was really sad on Saturday when it was the last day. We'll definitely be signing her up again! Thank you for providing a safe, in person experience for my extroverted child!

A terrific empowering experience that exposes and teaches your child a wide range of dances, music, positive approaches to thinking and expressing themselves. The "show" at the end of the week is very inspiring and the staff is thoughtful, patient and kind in leading the girls through an impressive array of choreography.

This is a total girl power experience! We’ve done this camp for 3 years - the Dance Mission staff are wonderful, energetic, and supportive. It’s amazing what the girls accomplish in just a week.

Very sweet! my 6 years first introduction to dance. one week of summer camp produced a 45 minute show which really showcased all the different techniques and choreography they had been working on. which kept all those pretty little girls super busy with movement.

My daughter loved her modern ballet class. The teachers made it super fun and a relaxing environment to learn in.

Flo is absolutely amazing !! A great introduction to Hip Hop that makes our family wanna do more :) The well produced show was the perfect ending.

Amazing! My daughter had fabulous week learning new dance styles and having fun! She came home happy and exhilarated each day, and especially enjoyed having the chance to perform what she had learned at the end of the week. We will definitely sign up for camp again next year!

Dance Mission Theater is a community minded dance organization that supports and challenges kids through dance instruction. The instructor Jessica was both kind and tough, which is a great combination. My daughter loves her hip hop class. I love that there are kids or a variety of ethnicities and body types.

I already recommended it to a friend and she is very happy taking hip hop on Saturdays. She improve in school and very motivated to keep dancing.

Dance Mission Youth Program is one of the best in the city. The teachers are extraordinary and teach more than just dance. I was impressed with the care they take with the youth to teach about integrity and community. All the programs emphasize multicultural dances and music. My daughter loved the summer camp and we plan to sign up for a class during the school year. Parking is the only downside, but it's entirely worth the extra few minutes of looking for a spot. I am super grateful to all the teachers at Mission Dance.

This weeklong day camp was an extraordinary experience for my newly 6-year old daughter. We've taken classes at Dance Mission before but this intensive (5 hours per day) of learning different dances, stretching and exercising, was great for my daughter's mind and spirit, as well as her body. There is a real emphasis on empowering girls, and the end of week Showcase performance was just a delight. We would do this camp more weeks than just the one, if it were offered for our age group.

My daughter loved this program. It was incredibly how much she learned in one week. Great staff who were professional, responsive and infused a passion for the arts which in turn has encouraged my daughter to explore different types of dance. We are definitely doing again next year!

Dance mission never disappoints. Reminds me of what is great about San Francisco. The camp was great. My daughter came home happy and inspired everyday. She has been dancing there before she was three-hope she becomes part of the girls brigade one day!

We loved it! It was my (going into 1st grade) daughter's first dance class experience and she was over the moon post-performance on Friday. "Best day of my life," was repeated multiple times. It must have been post-performance adrenaline!
I was so impressed with the number of choreographed dances the girls learned in 5 short days. Can't wait to get the link to the performance video. Thank you for a great start to summer.

This was my daughter's second time in DM summer camp. She loves this camp, and says, "It's really fun!" The teachers should be commended for creating an exciting, safe, and creative space for girls to grow. I'm personally always amazed by how much the learn in such a short amount of time. The culmination of all the classes on the last day is impressive.

We love this program! It's amazing how much they accomplish in just a week. The teachers are great - gracefully blending fun and discipline. The end-of-week performance is a treat to watch -- all of the kids, regardless of age or skill, are so confident, joyous, and excited to perform.

It is a great camp but best if you have a friend with you.

Dance Mission is an amazing center for children to learn and thrive. Our ten year old attended Creative Movement when he was 4 years old, and now our second son, 5-year-old Serafín, has completed two classes and a week of summer camp. Teachers are loving and very skilled at keeping the youth engaged. We love Dance Mission!

My daughter has taken many classes at this incredible resource over the years. I've said this so many times in the past while explaining DM to others: It's all about girl power on so many levels. It is a place I wish all kids, especially girls, had the opportunity to be involved in. Spring recital this year was fantastic! It's an incredible experience to watch a so many groups girls perform, each from within their own skill and confidence level, each with difference body shapes and sizes, and to leave the show knowing every single one of them was incredibly beautiful.

I love Dance Mission! They accommodated my child into a class. If just prefer that they'd offer more weekday classes for working parents To take my child in the evening. Weekends are booked up for us

We have loved our classes and summer camps at Dance Mission -- hip hop, modern jazz, taiko drumming, and more. The staff is excellent, welcoming, inspiring, and professional. They are a much-beloved Mission District institution!!

Our son loved his hiphop class at Dance Mission! It was his first formal dance class and he learned a lot. Brandie is a great dancer, choreographer and teacher--perfect combination of tough+love+talent. He wants to continue learning more!

My 10.5 year old attended the Grrrrl Brigade dance camp where they did taiko, modern dance, hip hop and salsa. They also learned choreography. This is a great camp for girls to explore dancing in a girl-power setting.
