Mohr's Explorers does not have upcoming sessions on ActivityHero right now. We can send you an email when they do.
Mohr's Explorers runs after-school, outdoor adventure programs for children in New York City and those in the South Orange/Maplewood area of New Jersey. We are excited to announce that we will be running a Summer Program in Central Park from June 28-July 30.
We are also proud to say that since reopening last summer, we have conducted over 1,000 separate sessions and everyone returned home safe and healthy. Please rest assured knowing that we are as experienced as anyone in running a safe program during these unprecedented times and are confident in our ability to keep providing a fun and safe outlet for your kids.
We utilize various confidence-building games and activities containing elements of hiking, climbing, fort building, bird identification, basic wilderness survival and so on. Each week of the Summer Program will be comprised of different activities every day as we explore, learn about whatever we can and most importantly...have fun!
All Mohr's Explorers' staff members have to make it through a few levels of steps from the beginning of the process, which weeds out many applicants, before even being granted an interview. All interviews are face-to-face with Mike, who is very selective in who is ultimately hired. After that, the application is reviewed, the responsibilities of the job are laid out (which weeds out even more applicants) and from there, we choose among only the best remaining candidates. Once a position is offered and the applicant accepts, we then run a background check. If that is clear, the applicant is expected to read our extensive Staff Manual and sign a form acknowledging he or she has done so. From there, we have a staff meeting and then new staff members work with an experienced group leader to start off, where they get on-the-job training as well as continual support -- even daily support, if necessary -- from Mike throughout their time with Mohr's Explorers. Many of our group leaders have been with us for more than two years and except when someone truly exceptional comes along, all of our group leaders start out as assistant instructors and learn how we do things, before moving up to run groups on their own.
We were named the most "Awesome After-School Program" in New York City (Red Tricycle's 2016 Totally Awesome Awards).
