Jr LEGO® Robot Camp, 5 Half Days

Turn your child’s love of LEGO into a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Instructors inspire students to become engineers, programmers, inventors and entrepreneurs.  Robot Academy is Columbus’ original LEGO Robotics and STEM camp. Our founders won the First Lego League World Championship two years in a row (first place in robotics out of 10,000 teams) and have also won numerous national invention and science competitions. Robot Academy opened over 12 years ago and has taught thousands of young students. Many of our camp graduates have gone on to win their own international championships.  It’s the ultimate STEM experience.

Lego Robotics InventionLAB and 3D Printing Camp (AM Camp)
Bring your ideas to life! We teach 'rapid prototyping', a technique that involves quickly building prototypes of invention ideas using cardboard, LEGOs or 3D printers. Kids design and build custom inventions with the help of their instructor and then present their prototypes to a Shark Tank panel (like on the TV show)! Kids enjoy presenting killer pitches to the judges with the help of their new friends and reaping the rewards (we give the students a lot of tips and talk them through their pitches in advance to make sure they're successful). Our instructors have won international invention competitions, so your kids are learning from the best. Students complete robot challenges to earn points to win tall trophies to reward their achievements. Award ceremonies are a fun celebration of our students' talents. We have individual help from Instructors to make sure that all students not only win trophies, but also gain confidence and a big smile.

Lego BattleBot Building/Programming Camp (PM Camp)
This camp focuses on building and programming robots.  The first two days focus on our famous LEGO MINDSTORMS BattleBot championship, where student-made robots "battle to the death". With the help of world champion robotics instructors, students will learn to program BattleBots in the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 language using sensors and logic. We run the BattleBot rounds until all campers have a chance to win. Students also complete robot challenges to earn points to win trophies to reward their achievements. Award ceremonies are a fun celebration of our students' talents.  Instructors provide individual help to make sure all students win trophies and are happy campers. 

The final three days, Wednesday to Friday, we utilize a our new Arduino LEGO Robot (available for purchase so that your child can keep the robot after camp).  It is a coding robotic kit that is designed for ages 6 to 18 with age-appropriate robotics challenges at each age level.  Our camps are grouped by age: Jr (6 to 9) and Sr (9 to 14).  Parents can decide which group based on your child's age and skill level.  Students sit with their age within a couple of years.  

With just one screwdriver, the step-by-step instruction, and Robot Guy videos, children can build a robot with scratch programming, and build logical thinking and design skills.   With a one-stop programming platform designed for STEAM education for all ages and levels, students can switch between Scratch and Python or Arduino C.

The adorable look of the Robot Academy Arduino robot is usually the first thing that millions of children fall in love with.  The robot can be purchased with an additional $125 so that the student can build their own robot with us and then take it home at the end of the camp.  Purchase of robot is optional.  The robot is portable and lightweight, but has huge possibilities with four expansion ports, over 100 kinds of electronic modules and a Robot Academy's LEGO Add-on to attach epic LEGOs to solve robotics challenges!
