Overview

Pokemon Summer Camp will be a fun, active introduction to Pokemon and the traditions of Japan: an adventure in artistic and cultural education for children from 5 to 15.

Every themed session will have children doing Pokemon related activities and learning Japanese culture through Japanese songs, Japanese stories and Japanese sports!

Pokemon Summer Camp is brought to you by Hanabi Judo. Here, learning is fun! Whether we are rolling, running, story-telling or speaking Japanese, we use both our bodies and minds to expand our abilities and experiences. Hanabi offers a positive learning environment where respect for “Sensei” – and for everyone – comes as naturally as smiling.

Hanabi’s camp director, Dan Augustine, is a father of three and a former elementary teacher who holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a sixth-degree black belt in judo. He has taught in New York, Tokyo, and Berkeley. He speaks fluent Japanese.

Lilian Miwa - My usually difficult 11 year old loves Hanabi! He's learned judo, Japanese writing and culture and he has fun! And as a mom of 3 kids with full time employment, I love how flexible it is. We can choose to do in person for a week and do online camp the next week when things are hectic. All my kids are too young to be vaccinated, so I'm always concerned about COVID safety precautions, but I feel confident with Hanabi. Domo arigato!!
