Family Karate's LIFE DOJO

For over 50 years Family Karate has partnered with parents to guide their children towards becoming strong self-leaders.  

In our LIFE DOJO we guide our students to be respectful and responsible, as well as caring and compassionate.  Our students are continually inspired by higher levels of skills, and by Black Belt Challenges that ask them to do well at school and at home, to grow as people, and cheerfully help others. Each Challenge has a life-model such as Nelson Mandela, Marie Curie, or William Wilberforce.

In addition to Online classes to offer enrolled students the support of a whole library of On-Demand lessons.

Our team of professional educators and instructors has over 100 years of collective teaching experience!  Our class curriculum has been tested for decades and continuously refined and updated to engage kids in fun, learning, cooperation and self-leadership.

Our teaching team is professionally educated (including post-graduate teaching degrees) and are back-ground checked through the State of California.

We stumbled upon Family Karate through a quick internet search for online karate. We somehow hit karate gold, when our search led us to Steve Truscott and Family Karate.
We were searching for a team-based activity offered from the safety of our home, given that our 6-year-old has been distance learning for a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Family Karate is teaching our son karate (no previous experience), providing him a fun outlet involving other children in the class (all over Zoom), teaching ethical principles and core values to emphasize responsibility, and brings the family together for weekly online Family Night involving games and movies.
