At this age, kids need to move around, enjoy ample self-directed play, and have chances for open-ended and creative expression. Ask if the program is facilitated by an experienced teacher. Also check references or read reviews from other parents.

What should I ask a director of classes for preschoolers?

Some good questions: How is the class developmentally appropriate for toddlers? What experience do the teachers have with preschoolers? What skills are emphasized for ages 0 to 5? What are the philosophy and program goals?

Will my child enjoy a toddler program?

If your preschooler doesn’t have much exposure to other kids, a group class is a perfect setting in which to build social skills and comfort level. After 2 or 3 sessions, your child should be interested and engaged. If not, consider trying somewhere else.

How many classes per week is appropriate for kids age 0-5?

By 18 months of age, children benefit from consistent socialization opportunities. Up to three classes a week should be fine for most kids. Try to balance class time with lots of free time at home to develop creativity.

What is the best type of toddler class for my child?
